REGISTER FOR AN AWARD IN EDUCATION AND TRAINING (Level 3)
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training qualification is short in duration and is beneficial for funeral service employees who may:-
- have responsibility for training staff on behalf of their employer
- have responsibility for training delivery on behalf of kindred associations
- wish to achieve a nationally recognised qualification in teaching / training
- be an existing trainer and would like to become formally qualified
- wish to become a trainer while working within the funeral service
Duration: 3 one day workshops, plus 2 days self-guided learning.
There are three specific Units to achieve.
Unit 1: Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training
Achievement of this Unit will help you to fully understand your responsibilities as a trainer including the responsibilities you have for the successful training of the learners. You will learn how to plan each training session effectively and to make the best use of the time and resources required and available to you.
You will learn how to plan a short training course effectively. By learning how to plan training effectively, you will be able to ensure that sufficient time is devoted to each topic area and relevant subjects are comprehensively covered .
Unit 2: Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training
When training adults working in the funeral service, it is essential for trainers to observe and act upon the differing needs of individuals and their unique requirements in order that training session can be delivered using an inclusive approach. We will help you to learn about how to deliver inclusive training sessions using a wide variety of situations and consideration to different learning environments.
Maintaining interest in the training sessions can be difficult. Therefore, we help you to develop appropriate skills using a range of different training methods. Finding out about these methods and how to apply them to your lessons is vital to the success and effectiveness of the training you provide.
Unit 3: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
One of the most frequently overlooked responsibilities of a trainer is that of assessing the progress of learners, i.e. checking to make sure the learners are keeping up with the content of the training session and learning about what they need to know and do. The ability to assess learners' progress is an essential part of a trainer's responsibility.
We will help you to learn about the different principles and practices used in a training environment for assessment. You will also learn about a range of approaches to implement assessments within your training practice and how to tailor these for the benefit of your learners.
How we will assess your learning.
First of all, we will expect you to commit to attending all face to face tutor led workshops.
You will be expected to complete a short series of assignments relating to your learning as you progress through each of the Units. In addition to this, you will create and maintain a practice file as you work through the course to aid you in completing a reflection of what you have learnt and how your learning will be of use in the future.
Finally, to demonstrate your training competence while in a safe learning environment, by the use of practice sessions known as Micro teach sessions we will help you to enhance your training skills and gain confidence in your own ability.
