         NAFD DIPLOMA IN FUNERAL DIRECTING DESIGNED TO ENABLE PROGRESSION

The NAFD Diploma in Funeral Directing qualification is benchmarked to Level 3 national standards of learning and assessment which aligns directly to the level and breadth of responsibilities a Funeral Director performs.

This qualification is externally endorsed by Birmingham City University and approved by OneAwards.

Diploma in Funeral Directing (49 Credits)

About the Diploma in Funeral Directing

The NAFD are pleased to be able to offer the revised NAFD Diploma in Funeral Directing (Dip.FD) designed specifically for Funeral Directors  who have successfully achieved the NAFD Diploma in Funeral Arranging and Administration (Dip. FAA) and for Funeral Arrangers who are working towards progression.

Entry Criteria

Registration for the Diploma in Funeral Directing is aimed at existing employees within the funeral service working in an associated funeral directing role who have successfully achieved and have been awarded the NAFD Diploma in Funeral Arranging and Administration (Dip.FAA).

Career Progression

The qualification also enables career progression for funeral arrangers and administrators wishing to progress into Funeral Directing, although funeral arrangers must  be able to provide evidence of workplace experience of a range of funeral directing responsibilities, including the experience of conducting a funeral within the period of study to enable achievement of the qualification. 

The Diploma in Funeral Directing can be taken as a stand-alone Diploma following achievement of the Diploma in Funeral Arranging and Administration. This qualification serves as a pre-requisite qualification prior for future registration with Birmingham City University to study a qualification in Management and Leadership aligned to meet the needs of the funeral service.

Duration: the qualification can be achieved within a minimum period of 12  - 15 months.

Registration for this qualification is for existing employees within the funeral service working in a related role.

Entry Criteria

1) Award of the Diploma in Funeral Arranging and Administration (Dip.FAA) must have been achieved prior to registration for the Diploma in Funeral Directing qualification.

2) Students must be able to provide workplace evidence of funeral directing responsibilities, including the conducting of a number of funerals prior to full achievement of the Diploma.

A Student Registration Fee of £145.00 is payable to the NAFD covering student registration for a period of two years. The fee does not include examination fees for the final examination; tutoring fees; or subscription to the Funeral Director Monthly magazine.

The student registration fee includes registration and final certification upon successful achievement of the qualification. Fees are non-refundable
